Interoperability Summit 2026: From Data Challenges to Real-World Impact
The 3rd Interoperability Summit took place on 7 May 2026 in Bonn, bringing together international experts from industry, standardization, and research to explore how industrial data can be used seamlessly across systems, organizations, and value chains.
Modern industry increasingly depends on interoperable systems and seamless data exchange. The Interoperability Summit highlighted interoperability as a key enabler of digital transformation, sustainability, and regulatory readiness.
Keynotes and case studies demonstrated how interoperability is already being applied in practice:
- "Your Biggest Manufacturing Bottleneck isn't Machines – it's Your Data. Unlock its Potential for AI-Driven Success"
Sven Löffler, T-Systems International - "DPP4.0 is a Game Changer for the Circular Economy"
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Wegener, Siemens - "Interoperability: From Ambition to Reality"
Adrian Grüner, Neoception GmbH
Additional sessions explored technologies and standards that enable scalable, machine-readable data ecosystems across industries:
- Digital Product Passports (DPP) for product transparency and lifecycle tracking
- Asset Administration Shell (AAS) as a foundation for industrial digital twins
- OPC UA as a standard for industrial communication
- Data Spaces enabling secure and sovereign data sharing
In addition to the presentations, lively discussions and Q&A sessions reinforced a shared message: interoperability is as much about mindset and cooperation as it is about technology. It enables greater efficiency, reduces integration effort, supports circular economy initiatives, and strengthens collaboration across industries.
The Interoperability Summit continues to serve as a platform for exchange between industry, research, and standardization communities. We look forward to continuing the conversation at the next edition.
